IX is a magical talisman/cube actively developed by the H3X3N computer witchcraft club since 2007. The cube has the ability to enchant or bewitch computers through a potent but unpredictable combination of hacker exploits, stage magic and cybersexual witchcraft.
The first IX cube was installed in a gallery setting, in front of three computers. Viewers were invited to use the cube to enchant the computers. Stage magic flourished around a high-tech pagan altar. The software that powers the cube's spells was then retooled to accommodate any Operating System conceivable, even speculative or fictional ones.
For the TURN*ON exhibition, H3X3N will zoom in on the first spell in IX's 9-spell grimoire, '0N'. The '0N' spell has in past exhibitions summoned various digital succubi to activate the viewer's most erotic neural bits. In this version the effects of the spell will be turned inward towards the computer operating system itself, inviting the Windows XP, Linux and MacOSX operating systems to express their most prurient desires in a cyberotic feedback loop of stimulation with the viewer. The viewer will interact with the three computers by making gestures with the IX cube, teasing them carefully to a psychorgasmagickal climax.
